Garcia Is Well

You'll be happy to know that Garcia is all better from his great battle last year.
And he loves to sprawl out on the deck in the sunshine, whenever the sun graces us with her light.

He might live in a tree like Taran and Cheetah if he had a choice.

Prayers for the Brave Garcia

Dear little Garcia is battling for his life after serious injuries and infections following a mythic battle with another creature, probably another cat or a raccoon. It might as well have been the Chimaera itself . . . and Garcia instead of Bellerophon riding the winged horse, Pegasus.

What a fight . . . Garcia usually stays in the yard, so this confrontation may very well have been a territorial one. We don't really know.

He's had several rounds of antibiotics, and his paw is still draining fluid. He's comfortable and in good spirits, but he limps when he walks.

Another problem is the stress of the medicine regimens have left his back without fur in places.

All our prayers go out for the brave Garcia to heal quickly and get back to his happy domestic life in Philadelphia!

Meet Walter Kitty

I'd like you to meet Walt, alias Walter Kitty, who recently moved into our house.

He's a shiny gray young fellow with a friendly attitude.

Next time, I'll have a photo!

meet garcia

Garcia is Erin's cat. He lives in Philadelphia because he likes being close to the Liberty Bell and Kelly Drive where he knows there are lots of mice to chase around.

I think Garcia is 6 years old. And he's a grand feline who once weighed in at almost 18 pounds. That's a big cat.

Last summer, while Erin was in Italy holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I cat-sat for Garcia. Not that he needed much protecting.

He spent most of his time roughing up Kitty Buzz, Riggin's cat.

But after a while, he got bored with that and spent a lot of time walking along the tops of the fence posts with his great big paws.

Erin lives in Philadelphia with Garcia.

And Sean, Erin's brother also lives in Philadelphia.

The funny thing is that both Erin and Sean like Mexico, but Garcia has never been there. Mostly because he doesn't have a passport.

When Erin went to England to visit her Nana, she wanted to take Garcia with her.

But he didn't really want to go.

He heard about the dark and rainy nights around London during the winter time.

Being the smart kitty he is, he decided to stay in Takoma Park with Scoutie.

Garcia wonders about Erin sometimes.

Because she's been know to try to add big animals to her hat. See the proof in this photo taken in Cancun, Mexico.

Scoutie's in the Snow

Scoutie is a companion dog. That means he's friendly to most people he meets.

Scoutie is a Shiba Inu, a Japanese breed from antiquity, thousands of years ago.

Scoutie's is about 11 years old. Sometimes, he looks like he's thinking really hard or just about to say a word or two.

But in all these years, Scout has never said a word.

Maybe tomorrow?

Welcome!

Here's the very first blog for Pondling . . . let the stories begin!

The cast of characters include:
Scoutie
Kitty Buzz
